Hot Lemon Water

  • 1 cup hot water
  • Juice of ½ lemon or lime
  1. Squeeze the lemon into the hot water.
  2. Sip slowly.

      Hi Gabriella! The heat is an important factor for this detoxing beverage- it helps your body absorb the enzymes of the lemon. (Much like warm water opens the pores of your skin, in a way it “opens” your liver and kidney for a more thorough cleanse.)

    I’ve seen other recipes with cucumber ginger cinnamon and honey included as well. Do these ingredients increase the benefits or just the flavor? Also I have been using the juice of 1-2 lemons. In a cup of medium hot water. Does the measure of lemon juice matter as long as it’s at least 2 tablespoons?

      Hi Michelle! Thank you for your question! Ann Louise recommends 1/2 a lemon with 1 cup of medium hot water alone. This is to maximize the cleansing benefits of the lemon and water to the system. The other ingredients mentioned would be to maximize the flavor although they do have great benefits as well. Hope this helps!
